About the "Life Moves" CD Story
The Flamingo Story is a musical interpretation of a real event, which became a documentary. It traces the flamingos of the Yucatan Peninsula, the current problem of loss of habitat due to developement, deforestation, and hurricanes.
At times there are over 40,000 flamingos in Yucatan,
although some of them are found in Cuba and Venezuela
as well. This story traces 400 birds that were abandoned by the adults after a jaguar raid on the nests. They were incubated, hatched, raised, and released by a non-profit organization called Niños y Crias (kids and critters) in Mexico. The idea is to educate the children and bring a love and respect for nature that is being demolished by development.
The story ends with a theme that was played by a windchime as I meditated on the project. It was just the first six notes, but I knew it was a direct message from these amazing birds.
Video soundtrack. Aprox. 25 minutes.
I originally wrote this to be supportive music for a stretch video designed to use imagery and music to reduce stress and relieve muscles and minds. The video never got produced, but the music has been very popular in classes I continue to teach. It is an overview of 24 hours in nature, each piece having a color, theme, and intention to open certain parts of our being. I hope you enjoy this. I do not recommend listening to this music in a car.. it is deeply relaxing.
Nine tracks. 41:26 minutes
